CS 2800 homework submission instructions.

  1. Go to http://blackboard.neu.edu/.
  2. Enter your myNEU user name and password to login. See http://myneu.neu.edu. If you don't know your myNEU account, please go to 120 Haden Hall with your husky card.
  3. Now you should see the home page of your account. You should see all your registered courses under "My Courses". Select CS 2800. If you cannot see the course, click on the second tab "Courses" on the top of the page. Select CS 2800.
  4. The new page has the navigation menu on the left hand side. Click "Assignments". You should now be able to see the list of homework assignments.
  5. Click on the assignment you want to submit.
  6. Under "Assignment Submission" click "Browse" button to find the file you want to submit. Then click "submit" button.
Only submit files containing plain ASCII text, e.g. lisp files. Do not submit (for example) Unicode, PDF, or Word .doc/ .docx files.
Do not cut and paste text into Blackboard because it gets reformatted and becomes unreadable. Only submit files.
  7. Now you should see the preview of what you are going to submit. If everything is correct, click "yes, submit" button.
  8. You should see a message indicating that the submission was successful. Save this message if you want evidence that you submitted on time.

HW1 specific: Homework 1 will require you to submit using TurnItIn. Thus there are submission instructions unique to this assignment.

  1. Note you need to submit both hw1.txt and the signed class contract. You need to submit hw1.txt for Homework 1 and the class contract in Homework1b.
  2. When you select Homework 1, you will see the Submit Turnitin Assignment page. Read the instructions.
  3. CLick submit. This will take you to a page for choosing your files
  4. Update: You will be using Submit: Single File.
  5. Fill in fields like first and last name.
  6. Last semester, TurnItIn didn't allow immediate reviewing of the submission. Thus make sure you submit early so you can review your work. Like other assignments, you should be able to submit multiple times.
  7. It doesn't appear that you need a TurnItIn account to submit your homework. If you do, please contact David Sprague and he will make a piazza post about this.

Note:

  1. Recall that you have to work in teams (pairs or triples) for most homeworks. Every member of the group needs to submit the solution file according to the instructions listed in that file.
  2. Homework submission will be automatically closed after the due time posted. There are no exceptions, so we strongly encourage you to submit your homework early in case you have any computer/network problems. By the way, you can re-submit homework as many times as you wish, up until the deadline.
  3. The Blackboard system will automatically check the similarity of your homework with that of other students and any other Web-accessible sources. Thus, it will be easy for us to find out if there is any copying. Of course, copying is not allowed and will not be tolerated.
  4. If you have any further questions about homework submission, or if you experience any problems with the submission process, please contact us.
