I graduated from Stonehill College in May of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in management information systems. Before enrolling in the Align program, I interned for two summers with Ernst & Young (EY). During my time with EY, I rotated through their Audit, Tax, and Consulting service lines.
What interested me the most about the Align program was the ability to integrate my previous background in accounting with a new learning in computer science. I chose Khoury College of Computer Sciences because of its well-known history of successful alums. When you mention Khoury College to someone, they immediately begin sharing a story of another individual they know who is a successful alum. Khoury College knows how to best prepare their students to succeed outside of school and tackle problems which the real-world presents.
My experience thus far in the Align academic bridge courses have been empowering. Coming into the program with little to no coding experience was intimidating. The bridge courses have provided me with a strong base for what is to come in my future computer science career.
The two industries which interest me the most are the healthcare industry and the aerospace/defense industry. Working in the healthcare industry, you may not be directly helping individuals, however you are creating the resources needed to provide those individuals with better medical treatments. In the aerospace and defense industry, you are not directly fighting on the front lines for our country. Instead you are providing the brave men & women serving our country with the best resources available to fight for our freedom.
