We are designing human-centered artificial intelligence that governments can implement to provide better services and relationships to their citizens.
Artificial intelligence, or A.I. by its acronym, is a construct that has been developed for decades, and with the advancement of technology and the development of hardware and software components, societies all across the planet have been involved in the development and growth of this technology. Today we can find ‘virtual assistants’ or ‘bots’ in charge of carrying out tasks in order to facilitate processes and services that, until a few years ago, required the direct intervention of a human being, which brought with it the many of the complications of executing tasks with human labor. Although human beings continue to be taken into account in the performance of certain services, their participation has been reduced thanks to advances in the field of AI.
Around the world, governments and companies from different countries are trying to connect their citizens to information and services in a more efficient and simple way. Thanks to this demand and the rise of virtual assistants in recent years, the resulting automation of services and tasks has meant that more and more people are in contact with their government institutions. In the case of Mexico, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) made the decision to implement a virtual assistant with which you can improve the tasks of processing, renewal and consultation of passport appointments, with the aim that citizens have at their fingertips the information and tools necessary to carry out these tasks. Additionally, the workload for this process is reduced, as the user will not have to interact with a human agent or go in person to the chancellery to make their queries, they can do it from the comfort of their home, and if they wish, they can request additional assistance from an human agent to solve any outstanding issues.
