BS in Computer Science and Journalism

The BS in Computer Science and Journalism is a combined major (Khoury College and the College of Arts, Media and Design) that will prepare you with an exceptional technical foundation and the journalistic skills you need to succeed in both digital and print media careers. Through rigorous coursework and hands-on experience you will learn the principles, practices, and responsibilities of the journalism profession while gaining a deep understanding of the systems and technologies that support digital media.

Learning outcomes

In this program, you’ll learn to:

  • Apply design principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity.
  • Use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for effective and secure computing practice.
  • Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.
