BS in Computer Science and Communication Studies

The BS in Computer Science and Communication Studies is a combined major (Khoury College and the College of Arts, Media and Design) that integrates technical skills and communication theory as you explore the impact of technology on society, culture, and politics. Through rigorous classes, research, and hands-on learning, you will develop a strong computer science foundation and deep understanding of the frameworks for human communication — and learn how to apply them to solve the challenges of today’s society.

Learning outcomes

In this program, you’ll learn to:

  • Apply design principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity.
  • Use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for effective and secure computing practice.
  • Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.
