Biography

Michelle Thalakottur is a doctoral student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, advised by Amal Ahmed and Frank Tip. Her doctoral research, which she began in 2021 and expects to complete in 2027, focuses on programming languages, static analysis, and WASM.

Before joining Khoury College, Thalakottur worked on compiler generation and data flow analysis at IIT Bombay, formalizing the compiler’s translation and generating code from the resulting specs. She also worked on dimensionality reduction problems at IIT Patna, aiming to find real-world applications for machine learning research and adapt algorithms to semi-supervised settings.

Thalakottur is driven to make research more accessible for underrepresented students and students from disconnected undergraduate programs. She is affiliated with the Programming Research Laboratory.
