Biography
L Boco is an academic advisor at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received her master’s in higher education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Key aspects of her role at Northeastern include advising undergraduate Khoury students and facilitating CS 1200 courses. Boco enjoys helping students discover their interests and take ownership of their academic plans. Khoury College’s motto, computer science for everyone, inspires her to advise her students with different needs, aspirations and interests.
Boco grew up in the Philippines and moved to the United States when she was in middle school. The opportunity to mentor first-year students as an upperclassman during her undergraduate studies fostered her passion for higher education. As an immigrant from a lower-income background, she felt out of place as a student in a large university. Meeting students going through the same challenges inspired her to use the knowledge she has accumulated to assist them in overcoming difficulties and finding their “space.”
