Biography
Katie Hughes is an assistant director of experiential education and instructional programs, and an associate co-op coordinator at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received a master’s and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in school psychology from Northeastern University. After working in K-12 public schools and in recruiting, Hughes transitioned to working in higher education with a focus on career education.
As a member of the co-op team, she advises students on their job searches, teaches a co-op preparation course, manages employer relationships, and leads the experiential education strategy group with the goal of continuous improvement to the program. Hughes truly enjoys seeing students build confidence and grow into young professionals. She loves working in the higher education space with students who often have great energy and enthusiasm for their futures. With a background in counseling and recruiting, Hughes can assist students in launching their careers. Aside from career education, she has a general interest in both physical and mental health and wellness, which is a critical component of the college student's experience.
Through her lens as a co-op coordinator, Hughes believes Khoury College prepares students well for the workplace both academically and professionally. There are many opportunities both in and out of the classroom setting for students to grow and develop their skills, which helps contribute to their professional successes.
Hughes grew up in Central Massachusetts.
