Biography

Kashif Imteyaz is a PhD student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He earned his bachelor's of technology from Jamia Hamdard in New Delhi. He is affiliated with the Civic A.I. Lab.

Imteyaz’s research area is human-computer interaction under Dr. Saiph Savage. He studies how AI is evolving the Future of Work, increasing productivity and accessibility, and how it is impacting the gig economy. One of the ways AI is changing the future of work for gig workers is through the emergence of online platforms that connect freelancers with businesses and individuals who need their services. These platforms use AI to match freelancers with the right jobs, based on their skills, experience, and preferences. AI algorithms also help to automate the hiring process, making it faster and more efficient for both parties.

Prior to joining Northeastern, Imteyaz ran his entrepreneurial social enterprise Majdoors, an online gig platform for construction workers in India that built a network of more than 800 workers from 120+ districts across seven Indian states.

In his free time, he enjoys playing squash and basketball.
