Jin Yu

Jin Yu is a part-time lecturer in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. 

Yu began working with Khoury College as an industrial partner in 2022. He enjoys passing his knowledge on to students, so he transitioned into a programming-for-data-science instructor role in 2024. In addition, Yu anticipates researching code generation and more scalable neural network and deep learning models.  

Yu has nearly two decades of industry experience in data analytics and AI, culminating in his current professional role as head of machine learning for the semiconductor manufacturing automation company Teradyne. He previously worked as director of machine learning for Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), system architect for Acuity Brands, and principal DSP engineer for Xperi Inc. He is named on nearly 50 patents and has published 30 papers on machine learning, electrical engineering, and computer engineering.  

Outside of work, Yu enjoys running outside and hiking along the seaside or in the mountains.
