Biography
Jan Belmonte is an executive assistant and project manager at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received her Master of Fine Arts in photography from the University of Delaware. Belmonte was an avid photographer from an early age and after college, she spent several years at the Maine Photo Workshops in Rockport. The focus of her work is landscape and collage. Belmonte’s professional experience is administrative in both the corporate and nonprofit worlds. She began working at Northeastern in 2012 in the Provost’s Office in faculty and academic affairs, where she managed new faculty orientation, programs for current faculty, university-wide events, and college dean searches. In 2016, Belmonte joined Khoury College as an executive assistant to the dean.
In her current role, she works with the associate dean of undergraduate education and experience, as well as the executive director and faculty members of the Cybersecurity & Privacy Institute. Belmonte also works with the tenured and tenure-track faculty hiring committee. She finds meeting candidates and facilitating the process very rewarding.
She is excited about the relationship between Khoury College and Northeastern’s other colleges, especially how students can declare a combined major in computer science and another discipline like music composition, English, sociology, or game design. Belmonte believes interdisciplinary faculty appointments can be a great opportunity for faculty to forge relationships with enriched research and enhanced teaching through collaborations with colleagues in their secondary college.
