Biography

Iraklis Tsekourakis is an associate teaching professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.

Tsekourakis’s doctorate focused on improving the accuracy of three-dimensional reconstruction using multiple-view videos as inputs, and he continues to explore 3D reconstruction research. He is drawn to the field by its varied applications, from medical applications to robotics to autonomous driving.

After receiving his doctorate in 2016, Tsekourakis began working as an assistant teaching professor and the associate chair of graduate studies in the computer science department at Stevens Institute of Technology. In 2020, he moved to Massachusetts, where he assumed a similar position at Brandeis University. Tsekourakis then joined Khoury College in 2023, drawn by the quality of education it offers to students and the professional opportunities it offers to faculty.

Tsekourakis is a passionate advocate of underrepresented groups in computer science, and strives to improve the outcomes of computer science education. During his time at Stevens Institute of Technology, he designed and launched a master’s program in computer science for students without a computing background. Now he is excited to get involved with Khoury College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and to broaden participation in computer science.
