Biography

Hyonho Lee is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University.

Before joining Northeastern in 2020, Lee graduated from a medical school in his native South Korea after studying acupuncture and herbal medicines. He began working as a licensed doctor of traditional Korean medicine, but when he moved to Canada, he studied computer science and eventually switched career tracks.

In graduate school, Lee’s research focused on the theory of distributed computing, and he worked with mutual exclusion algorithms on shared memory systems. Now, in addition to teaching algorithms at Khoury College, he works full-time on Microsoft’s Azure Compute team, where he builds platform services.
