Biography
Gregory Valcourt is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based at the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine.
Valcourt discovered his love for teaching while he was a tutor and TA during his master’s program at Northeastern, and began teaching after graduation at the urging of one of his professors. Now an instructor in the Align program, Valcourt enjoys the challenge of understanding the unique ways in which multidisciplinary students approach and learn material, and relishes the chance to learn from his students.
Outside of his work at the Roux Institute, Valcourt is a full-time system administrator for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland. In that role, he travels around Maine fixing computers and helping staff members to get more out of their machines, finding that his teaching work helps him to better explain concepts and practices in his diocese work. Additionally, Valcourt volunteers with the Scouts — he’s an Eagle Scout himself — and helps around the family farm.
