Biography
Ethan Whittet is an academic advisor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.
After working under the Northeastern University umbrella since 2009, Whittet joined Khoury College in 2023. He was drawn by the opportunity to work with students one on one, and he enjoys puzzling out how to fit students’ degree requirements together in a way that supports their individual passions and strengths. He also appreciates that his long-term institutional knowledge can help his 300+ students to feel at home in the university.
In the two decades before he joined Khoury College, Whittet served university students in a wide range of roles. In addition to his five years as an English language specialist supporting Northeastern’s international students through NU Global, Whittet taught a half dozen different beginner and advanced courses within Northeastern’s writing program. He also held writing instruction and support roles at Southern New Hampshire University, Rutgers University, Lesley University, and Gordon College.
When he’s not helping students, Whittet enjoys watching hockey and stand-up comedy, as well as spending time by the ocean (in the summer) or around the fireplace (in the winter) with his wife and daughter. He has a pet dog and a pet snake.
