Biography
Daniel Ries is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He obtained both his bachelor’s and master’s in mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and his doctorate in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ries is a senior information system professional with many years of experience working with business and technology leaders in healthcare and other industries. He is currently the chief technology officer at Good Measures LLC, a startup that provides nutritional tools and services for individuals. Ries helped found and launch the company Health Dialog, which utilizes nurse call centers to provide health education and support for more than twenty million individuals with chronic diseases and other conditions. He is also a member of Health Level Seven International (HL7) and is active in several national and international standards committees and work groups.
Prior to joining Northeastern, he was a senior executive in research and development at Wang Laboratories and Progress Software.
Ries grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts.
