Biography

Cody Freitag is a postdoctoral fellow in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.

Freitag’s research covers algorithms and theory as well as security and privacy. He is most interested in the theory of cryptographic proof systems and their applications to the decentralized setting of blockchains. Additionally, Freitag studies the potential threat that quantum computers pose to the security of existing cryptographic protocols. He has earned a Khoury College Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship and an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and has presented or published at Crypto, Eurocrypt, TCC, CCS, AISTATS, RANDOM, ITC, SCN, ACNS, and CSCML. 

Prior to joining Khoury College in 2023, Freitag was a doctoral student at Cornell University. He enjoys morning coffee, walks with his dog, exploring Boston, and playing ultimate.
