Biography
Chieh Wu is an associate professor at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.
Wu is a prolific machine learning scholar, having published 12 papers in a six-year span while also volunteering as a reviewer for three publications. In recent years, he’s dedicated himself to identifying personalized risk factors and predicting gestational age through a grant from the Opportunity and Infrastructure Fund. He specializes in kernel methods, and his ultimate goal is to discover a unifying mathematical theory for neural networks.
Wu has been at Northeastern since 2015, first as a doctoral research assistant in the College of Engineering and later as a postdoctoral researcher. He joined the Khoury College faculty ranks in 2023 out of a love of teaching, and he’s excited to bring his passion into the classroom where he can work directly with students. He also believes the intersection of biology and machine learning is a promising research area, and he is interested in building interdisciplinary collaborations around biomarker testing.
When he isn’t busy in the classroom or pursuing his research interests, Wu enjoys spending his time playing pickleball, basketball, and the piano.
