Rasika Bhalerao is an assistant teaching professor at Khoury College. Her areas of teaching include introductory courses (Fundamentals of Computer Science and the Align program), artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and ethical computing.

Crane He Chen
Assistant Teaching Professor
Crane He Chen is an assistant teaching professor at Khoury College, based in Oakland and Silicon Valley, where she teachers computer graphics. Chen enjoys teaching students not just to solve problems, but to determine which problems to solve. She also aims to develop their critical and creative thinking skills in line with the philosophy that “knowledge has a life span, but modes of thinking are timeless.”

Maryam Farahmand-Asil
Assistant Teaching Professor
Maryam Farahmand-Asil is an assistant teaching professor at Khoury College, specializing in algorithms, discrete and data structures, and programming for data science. She received the 2023 Khoury Teaching Innovation Award for a project aimed at enhancing student engagement in computing courses.

Miguel Fuentes-Cabrera
Associate Teaching Professor
Miguel Fuentes-Cabrera is an associate teaching professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Oakland. Before joining Khoury College in 2023, Fuentes-Cabrera built his research career at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, where he used computational physics techniques to investigate nanomaterials.

Associate Teaching Professor
John Alexis Guerra Gomez is an associate teaching professor at Khoury College. Throughout his career in academia and industry, he has worked on data, user interface design, network visualization, and human–computer interaction projects, both in the US and in his native Colombia.

Almudena Konrad
Visting Teaching Professor
Almudena Konrad is a visiting teaching professor at Khoury College. She teaches courses on discrete structures and mathematics of data models, and previously held a faculty position in the Math and Computer Science Department at Mills College.

Alvaro Monge is a teaching professor at Khoury College, and assistant dean and director of computing programs for the college’s California campuses. He is passionate about supporting and retaining underrepresented students in computing and preparing them to thrive in the tech industry.

Lace Padilla is an assistant professor at Khoury College, jointly appointed with the College of Science. She combines cognitive, neural, and computer sciences to study how people process data visualizations and how those visualizations can communicate more accurately and effectively.

Sami Rollins is a teaching professor and director of graduate computing programs at the Oakland campus. Her research includes broadening participation in computing, computer science education, and mobile and distributed computing.
