Life at Khoury College

Open the door to what’s possible

Our collaborative, supportive community

At Khoury College, our tenets of inclusivity and innovation aren’t confined to the classroom. Whether through clubs, research projects with professors and industry partners, hands-on co-ops, study abroad programs, or numerous other opportunities, our students can spread their wings and customize their learning journeys. And they can do it all in collaboration with dedicated peers and support staff.

Six things to love about Khoury College

#1: Inclusive environment

Since its earliest days, the computer science field has often failed to mirror the demographics of the society it discovers and designs for. That’s where our mission of “computer science for everyone” comes in. By bringing more women, underrepresented groups, and non-CS majors into the field, Khoury College aims to foster open, inclusive spaces in which diverse interests, backgrounds, and ideas coalesce, coexist, and build upon each other. The result: a new generation of computer scientists with wide range of perspectives.

#2: Interdisciplinary study

At a time when the computing field is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary, so are Khoury College’s degree offerings. With 56 combined majors and counting, Khoury College offers students paths for integrating computer science, data science, or cybersecurity with everything from journalism and theater to physics and biology. And by learning from jointly appointed faculty whose teaching and research is similarly multifaceted, students gain a deeper understanding of how their field intersects with others.

Through this fusion of fields, Khoury graduates become more versatile computer scientists, discover new interests, and position themselves into standout job candidates.

#3: Big-city locations, small-campus feel

Khoury College has a presence at more Northeastern University campuses than any other college, spanning both US coasts and extending north into Canada. Most lie in major tech centers, allowing for the culture, resources, transit, and employer connections of a large hub — all while maintaining the intimate feel of a small campus.

#4: Learn through experience

More than 500 industry partners. A broad swath of research opportunities. Study abroad and service learning courses across the globe. Capstone projects. By participating in Khoury College’s countless out-of-class offerings, students can build the experience, insights, and savvy to pursue research, land a high-paying job, or start their own endeavor.

#5: Support and collaboration

Khoury College is proud to create a culture based on collaboration, community, and respect. With the backing of academic advisors, co-op coordinators, teaching assistants, and numerous other support staff, Khoury students can plan and pursue their optimal path.

#6: Global network

With a strong presence throughout Northeastern’s global network of campuses, Khoury College empowers its students to learn and grow across the globe. Our programs are strategically placed in tech hubs — including Silicon Valley, Seattle, and Vancouver — allowing students to connect with our industry partners, embark on career-changing co-ops and internships, and explore innovative research projects.
