Boston-Roux PhD expectations:
Admission to this program requires you to be at the Boston campus during your precandidacy years. You will be assigned a faculty advisor at the Boston campus to assist you during your time in Boston. Once you achieve candidacy, you will transfer to the Portland, Maine campus to complete your research where your primary faculty advisor is located. PhD support package coverage

Student Graduate Assistantship (Research or Teaching Assistantship) includes:
1. Stipend: $51,250*: This stipend is split over 3 semesters: Fall, Spring and Summer ($17,083.33 per semester). Stipended Graduate Assistants are paid bimonthly, on the 15th and last day of each month. The first disbursement of stipend funds for the Fall 2024 semester will be 15 September, 2024.
*If a student goes on internship, their SGA stipend will be paused for the duration of that internship.
2. Northeastern University Health Insurance Plan (NUSHP): The cost of your Northeastern University Student Health Plan (NUSHP) fee ($2499**) is included as part of your support package. The health insurance is effective September 1st to August 31st and covers the student only. If a student wishes to add dependents to their NUSHP plan, the student may do so at an extra cost. 1. Enroll and Deposit: If you have not already done so, please enroll and pay your deposit fee through your Slate application portal. Your deposit fee is $100, and it will go towards a portion of your student fees.
2. Deferral: If you are unable to begin your studies in Fall 2024 and wish to defer, please reach out to your faculty advisor(s) and the PhD Student Services team at khoury-phdprograms@northeastern.edu to discuss your options to defer.
3. Request and send in your final official transcripts: Please send your final official transcript(s) with your degree and graduation date within 30 days of matriculation, or the start of your program. As Fall 2024 starts, you will need to submit your official transcripts no later than 30 September 2024. Please send via regular mail to the PO Box below. Please note you cannot use FedEx nor UPS to send to a PO Box.

a. Claim your MyNortheastern account
b. Fall 2024 registration for new students opens Wednesday, 8 May and we expect all new and continuing PhD students to be fully registered for 8 SH of coursework by 1 July 2024.
c. Before registering for any coursework, reach out to your faculty advisor(s) to discuss your options. New students should reach out to their faculty advisor(s) by 1 May to discuss registration plans in advance of registration opening on 8 May. Khoury College recommends that first year students take 4 SH (semester hours) of classroom coursework along with 4 SH of Readings with their faculty advisor for a total of 8 SH of coursework.
All incoming students must register for at least 8 SH of regular coursework. Learn more about course registration, the PhD Computer Science curriculum, the PhD Cybersecurity curriculum, and the PhD Personal Health Informatics curriculum. If students are not fully registered for 8 SH of coursework by 1 July 2024, this may delay access to labs, stipends, health insurance, and/or visa status.

5. Confirm Health Insurance and Submit Immunizations: The Northeastern University Student Health Plan fee of $2499** will be automatically added to your bill. The NUSHP fee is covered by your PhD Funding package and will be cleared from your bill in October 2024, after the start of the Fall semester. We will discuss your billing and funding package application in detail during orientation in September. Learn more about waiving NUSHP. Learn more about submitting your immunization records.
