Assignment 11: Draft of Final Paper
Goal
The goal of this assignment is develop a solid draft of your final paper.
Team assignment
Taking all the feedback you have received on your project so far into account, revise your prior paper.
Your paper should include/achieve the following:
- An abstract that summarizes the problem, solution, and contribution of the work.
- A clear and compelling statement of the societal/health problem being addressed, and support for why that problem is important.
- A summary of the big vision demonstrated by your proposed personal health informatics technology.
- A description of the prototype you are building and how it will demonstrate that big vision, including (and this is important!) how the technology design can be supported using the frameworks/readings discussed in class. The level of detail you provide should be equivalent to what you would find in a paper submission (i.e., focus on what a reader would find to the interesting/important details they need to assess the viability idea and understand what is being proposed, but to not provide details beyond that).
- An explanation of how your prototype technology, either via its very proof-of-concept existence, or after one more semester of testing a team could realistically pull off, will contribute to the scientific body of knowledge.
- An argument for why what you will have built by the end of the semester is of sufficient scope and robustness to make dramatic progress towards solving/improving the problem you identified. You should be telling a great story about how and why your idea is a small exmaple of a much bigger idea, as we have repeatedly discussed in class.
- References to the course readings, as well as additional scientific literature throughout (and all references should be in your Endnote library).
You have a total of 6 pages in the (SIGCHI format), including figures but not including references. You can use as many pages for references as required.
Please review this checklist and use it to improve the writing in your draft.
