The exam is to be given on Friday, December 17th from 1pm to 3pm in room 312 EL (Ell Hall).
There are six questions to be answered in the 2 hour period, twenty minutes apiece, if you were to divide your time evenly.
General advice: Wherever possible, use technical language and specific examples (that you're welcome to make up). Vague and unspecific ramblings will lead to low grades on your answers.
Question 1 (Chapter 1) 16 points: There are five usability measures discussed in the chapter which you were asked to memorize. Name, describe and discuss one of the five which would allow a lot of statistics to be gathered. Then name, describe and discuss a measure that is more subjective.
Question 2 (Chapter 2) 17 points: Give a thorough discussion of the golden rule: Permit easy reversal of actions. Discuss an example that involves commands and another that involves direct manipulation.
Question 3 (Chapter 3) 16 points: One approach to the design process is to develop one or more scenarios. In preparing for the Final, you were asked, "Create your own original scenario and be ready to present it." Describe the scenario you created and how it could assist in a design.
Question 4 (Chapter 4) 17 points: Explain acceptance tests in detail, including why they are sometimes advasarial. (While you're at it, correct the spelling of "advasarial".)
Question 5 (Chapter 6) 17 points: Describe some of the problems of direct manipulation. Don't include any discussion of the problem of moving the hand from mouse to keyboard and back.
Question 6 (Chapter 13) 17 points: Give a thorough discussion that compares online help and manuals with paper material.Go to ISU570 home page. or RPF's Teaching Gateway or homepage
