Giving Day 2025
Let’s raise the bar!
Support from Khoury alumni, parents, partners, and others in the community helps us achieve our goals the whole year through, and Northeastern’s Giving Day 2025 — Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. — offers the opportunity for your generosity to have an even greater impact. Timed challenges will inspire giving to a variety of different causes throughout the day. And thanks to generous members of the Northeastern community, Giving Day will award gifts to the challenge-winning schools and colleges, teams, and programs.
Northeastern’s Giving Day 2024 was a huge success, with Khoury College raising almost $100,000 for our students and placing third among Northeastern colleges. We are grateful for the many contributions that made the day an overwhelming success — and look forward to meeting the challenge this year! We thank you for your continued support and generosity.
Student Sarah Popeck talks about the value of being part of student clubs: “I think it just motivates you to push yourself further.”

This year’s challenges
- The Khoury Challenge: When Khoury College has received gifts from 100 donors to any KCCS fund, parents Megan and Vincent Dennis will release $10,000 to the Khoury College of Computer Sciences Dean’s Fund.
- The Khoury STRETCH Challenge: When Khoury College has received gifts from another 50 donors, a generous Khoury family will release another $10,000 to the Dean’s Fund.
- The Doreen Hodgkin Student Emergency Fund Challenge: If 25 donors give to the Doreen Hodgkin Student Emergency Fund, some generous parents of a Khoury graduate will donate $25,000 to the fund.
- Challenge of the Colleges: The three schools or colleges with the largest percentage increase in donors on Giving Day will receive these challenge dollars for their Dean’s Funds.
- 1st place = $20,000
- 2nd place = $12,000
- 3rd place = $8,000
- Dollar Up Challenge: $40,000 in challenge funds will be split between each school that raises $10,000 or more by 8 p.m. on Giving Day.
Doreen Hodgkin Student Emergency Fund
Honoring retired Associate Dean Doreen Hodgkin’s service, the Doreen Hodgkin Student Emergency Fund provides emergency financial support to Khoury students who need assistance with unexpected, unforeseen, and unavoidable emergency circumstances.
Khoury Dean’s Fund
The Khoury Dean’s Fund is a flexible resource that can be allocated when and where it’s needed most — whether to support an undergrad in need, send a master’s student on an extraordinary research experience, or book an industry leader to speak and inspire.
AI for Impact: Social Change Through Technology Fund
In the pioneering AI for Impact Co-op Program, managed by the Burnes Center for Social Change in partnership with Khoury College, students work full time on experiential AI projects for social good, wielding AI as a tool for transformative innovation and transforming ideas into measurable impacts in collaboration with the communities they’re serving.
Align Scholarships
The Align Program provides a pathway to a computer science master’s degree for students with non-CS undergraduate degrees, regardless of educational background or previous career experience. Candidates for Align scholarships must be women and/or underrepresented minorities enrolled in the MSIA and MSCS Align program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; the scholarship may be renewed in succeeding years.
Student Groups
Khoury’s many student groups provide meaningful and educational opportunities for students to develop a strong sense of support, belonging, and camaraderie.
Khoury College Student Experience Fund
This fund enables computer science students with financial need to pursue their passions in real-world settings, such as choosing their co-op based on passion and fit, creating an entrepreneurial co-op, or participating in international co-ops. Alternatively, students may use funds to study abroad, attend academic conferences, or work alongside world-class faculty on research.
Khoury College Undergraduate Scholarship
Gifts to the Khoury College Undergraduate Scholarship Fund help provide scholarships to talented students with financial need, making it possible for them to study computer science at Northeastern.

Jelly Incubation Fund
This fund provides research and/or programmatic support for projects by students, student groups, and/or student-run service organizations. The projects will be of a unique scope, topic, or approach that will boost the reputation of Khoury College and Northeastern, or a project that will be beneficial to Khoury College, and applicants for funding must submit a proposal outlining their project that includes a viable budget, timeline, and defined goal.

Khoury Undergraduate Research Co-op Fund
Recipients of this fund will be selected for a paid research co-op position in the lab of a Khoury faculty member. Candidates must be full-time undergraduate students at Northeastern; the co-op position must be undertaken in the laboratories of a tenured or tenure-track faculty member within Khoury College.
