Engaging Without Adopting? Exploring Informed, Principled Resistance and Refusal
What if one of the best ways to use AI responsibly is by using it rarely or not using it at all? Why might someone – even a longtime “technology enthusiast” – want to resist or even refuse using AI technologies in their work, learning, and/or teaching? I’ll discuss some of the reasons for that resistance/refusal, along with alternative visions of AI systems’ potential.
