Inclusive Tech Collective

Our mission: Breaking barriers to make an impact on society

The Inclusive Tech Collective, supported by five sub-collectives, aims to be a leader in tech by broadening participation of underrepresented groups. The Inclusive Tech Collective works to serve as an educational resource, recognizing historical barriers that have prevented the progression of underrepresented groups in tech. We strive to align the diversity of gender, race, and educational backgrounds through tech and to cultivate the enrichment of each underrepresented group’s impact on society and the tech field.

Our five tech collectives

The collective focuses on creating a supportive environment that fosters a sense of belonging and serves as a resource for the community. We recognize and honor the unique challenges and barriers faced by the Black/African-American community, and we strive to create a sense of ownership in institutional initiatives and educational opportunities. Our goal is to cultivate and develop systems that support underrepresented students at every stage of their educational journey, from entry to graduation.

The collective focuses on empowering a community that brings together individuals with diverse disabilities to foster support, advocacy, and inclusivity. We aim to create resources and strategies to navigate societal challenges and institutional barriers. We strive to create more equity and accessibility for all individuals regardless of their ability to participate fully.  

The collective is dedicated to introducing the Hispanic-Latino community to opportunities in the tech field, inspiring them to see themselves in this industry. We strive to connect the community with supportive individuals who reflect their experiences, while fostering an environment that cultivates and develops strategies to support underrepresented students in pursuing new opportunities.

The collective focuses on enhancing inclusivity by promoting the rights, traditions, and well-being of Indigenous communities. Through advocacy, scholarships, and targeted outreach, we aim to increase access to computer science programs, fostering a supportive environment for Indigenous students. By bridging gaps in representation, we strive to create a diverse and empowered community that actively shapes the future of computer science education at Northeastern University.

The collective aims to create a safe and inclusive space for individuals interested in the tech field. By fostering an environment of acceptance and support, we strive to empower members of the LGBTQ+ community to explore and pursue careers in technology. Our collective connects individuals with mentors and peers who share similar experiences, providing resources, networking opportunities, and educational programs. Through these efforts, we hope to break down barriers and promote diversity within the tech industry, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can achieve their full potential.
