Community Partnerships

Global network, local connections

Using computer science skills to change lives

Khoury College’s commitment to leveraging computing for equitable societal gain goes beyond our mission of Computer Science for Everyone and our overarching ethical instruction in the classroom. It permeates the relationships the college forges with local community partners throughout our global network and the work made possible by these partnerships.

By helping build tailored, user-friendly software tools and infrastructure, Khoury students enable community groups to operate more efficiently, achieve more effectively, and expand their reach to new populations and projects. The students benefit too, building their coding and collaboration skills through hands-on experience and deepening their connection to the communities in which they study.

Here’s a look at some of Khoury College’s community partnerships, and the ways those initiatives are making communities a better and more equitable place.

Rewriting the Code

Rewriting the Code (RTC) is a peer network that provides education, support, and mentorship to women pursuing tech careers. RTC founder and CEO Sue Harnett discusses what inspired her to create the group, and how it helps women in tech “become the leaders of the future that we really need in the technology industry.”
