Scout
Northeastern’s student-led design collective
Scout is a student-led, student-powered collective of passionate designers helping each other learn, connect, network, engage, and work on exciting projects. The group values its positive, supportive, tight-knit community — one that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Scout’s members work on eight teams to design a range of client deliverables, including websites, apps, brand and identity kits, interactive designs, marketing assets, spatial designs, data visualizations, fabrications, blogs, social media, and email campaigns. Depending on their team and project, members can build skills in graphic design, brand and identity, communication, development, agile methodology, experience design, digital marketing, and social media marketing.
In addition to their regular client projects, the club runs Scout Labs, an interdisciplinary team that partners with local institutions like the Office of Housing Justice or the YMCA to investigate and design solutions for social issues in Boston. The club also puts on an annual design conference called Interventions, holds regular speaker events, and runs a blog and newsletter.
Scout has been such an important part of my college experience. It has allowed me to develop professionally and become a design leader with both student teams and industry professionals
