Sharing a love of exploring the outdoors

The Roux Outdoor Club (ROC) is a student organization dedicated to cultivating a community with a shared passion for exploring the outdoors at the Roux Institute.

The ROC encourages members to adopt a balanced lifestyle that emphasizes disconnecting from computer-based work and reconnecting with nature. To that end, they organize a variety of excursions around Maine and Northern New England’s most cherished natural landscapes, including Acadia National Park, Sunday River, Pleasant Mountain, and North Kearsarge Mountain.

The ROC’s 100+ members can travel regularly with the club, and can expect to build general outdoor skills and improve their work–life balance. They have conducted hiking adventures, skiing expeditions, and polar plunges, as well as more general networking events.

ROC allows me to get to know my classmates outside of the classroom. We participate in a wide range of activities from skiing and hiking mountains to walking and playing sports, and the list goes on!
