Namaste

Celebrating and sharing India’s rich and diverse culture

Namaste is a social club that aims to develop a sense of belonging and community among Indian students at Northeastern’s Portland campus, and to celebrate and share Indian culture with the broader campus community. Namaste hosts events for important Indian holidays like Holi and Diwali and opens itself not just to Indian students, but to any students interested in Indian culture. Members can expect to develop team building, event organization and planning, and networking skills, in addition to deepening their appreciation for Indian culture.

Our club’s name is Namaste, which is an ancient Indian greeting that
signifies ‘I bow to the divine in you.’ The word’s meaning has evolved, and it is now used as a form of greeting like ‘hello.’ This name
represents our aim to create a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds may come together to learn about and celebrate Indian
culture
