Northeastern Game Development Club
Learn the fundamentals and get hands-on experience with game development
The Northeastern Game Development Club, or NUGDC, is an inclusive space that offers students a multitude of ways to express their passion for game development.
NUGDC hosts weekly meetings that feature lectures and short, design-focused activities for student game developers of all backgrounds and levels of experience. The club also hosts at least two “game jams” per semester; in these events, which can run for a few days or weeks, students create teams to design and produce a game around a theme like “Road Trip” or “Behind You.” To promote interdisciplinary collaboration and networking, game jams are often held in collaboration with other student clubs, such as the Digital Illustration Association and the Animation Club.
Members have the opportunity to participate in the Global Game Jam, an annual distributed game jam attended by industry professionals and hobbyists worldwide, with external scholarship opportunities available to some students. Game jam experience can be a great talking point for co-op and internship applications, and many members use their games as portfolio pieces. In addition, NUGDC members can expect to develop practical skills, professional networks, and strong connections in the Boston game development industry.
We provide an inclusive space for all those interested in learning about game development, and those who are new to game development at Northeastern. We welcome all types of students, majors, and skill levels
