Biography

Carter Ithier is a clinical instructor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.

Ithier always found math engaging, and leveraged his math skills from his engineering background with discrete math — which he learned at Khoury College — for his AI coursework. Now that he’s teaching discrete math, he hopes to share real industry examples of the concepts that his students will be learning.

Ithier joined Khoury College after completing his Align master’s degree there and being impressed by the care, passion, and skill of his instructors. Khoury College’s dedication to computer science education for underrepresented groups was another key draw for Ithier, as he strives to support students inside and outside the classroom, and has worked with organizations such as FIRST Robotics, The Breakthrough Collaborative, and AmeriCorps to involve underrepresented groups in STEM.

Before joining Khoury College, Ithier worked as a software engineer at Boston-based robotics startup Saturday Robotics and interned at health care company Optum as a technology development program intern. Outside of the classroom, he is a fan of Marvel and his three dogs.
