Biography

Damian Isla is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.

Isla joined Khoury College to teach the “Game Artificial Intelligence” course, a fitting choice for the design director and co-founder of The Molasses Flood, a studio under Polish video game developer CD PROJEKT. He has worked for twenty years in the game industry and founded two startups, the most recent of which was acquired in 2022.

Isla became interested in AI as a child, in part thanks to his love of Isaac Asimov’s writing. While attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he learned from the founders of the field and went on to apply his newfound AI knowledge to the world of video games.

Outside of his teaching and video game work, Isla plays soccer and piano, writes creatively, and skis. He speaks four languages (English, Spanish, French, and Italian) and is learning a fifth (German).
