Biography
Mahsa Bazzaz is a doctoral student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. She is advised by Seth Cooper.
Building on both her lifelong fascination with game programming and her enlightening undergraduate courses in machine learning, Bazzaz focuses on game science, specifically procedural content generation for machine learning in the realm of 2D tile-based games. She investigates the effectiveness of generative models, such as neural networks, for creating diverse and playable game levels.
Prior to joining Khoury College in 2023, Bazzaz was a game AI intern, where she worked on nonplayable character behavior, procedural map generation, and game design and development frameworks. Since beginning her doctoral studies, she has worked as a teaching assistant in game programming and human–computer interaction courses.
