Inclusive and actionable computer science
Welcome to Khoury College of Computer Sciences. At Khoury, we are committed to making computer science available and of benefit to everyone. To this end, we strive to create and sustain a supportive, inclusive community that fosters belonging and leadership in the computer science field.
The demographics of this year’s incoming class reflect our commitment to inclusion: 33% of our students identify as women, and more than 15% of our students are from Black, Hispanic, or Indigenous communities.
We recognize that computer science touches upon countless aspects of daily life, and this expansive scope is reflected in the 56 combined majors we offer. More than 50% of our undergraduate students take advantage of this opportunity, and all of our students participate in experiential learning programs, many with one or more of our 500 industry partners.
Students and faculty across our global network of campuses are driven to make a positive impact in the world, using the power of computing to improve the lives of all. We believe the opportunities for computer scientists are boundless. Computing enables people to communicate and connect. It steers the news that we read and the items that we purchase. It enables medical diagnosis and treatment. We recognize the impact of what we do is enormous; the choices we make individually and collectively as a community will help shape how people in the future find and purchase items, hear news, receive medical treatment, and perform tasks we have yet to imagine.
We also recognize the ethical responsibilities of the decisions we make and actions we take. We understand that the work we do in the classroom, in our labs, and with industry and community partners has profound impact and consequence, and we take this responsibility with great import. That is why Khoury College has taken the lead in developing an oath for computing professionals. It is our hope that one day computer science graduates everywhere will commit to its principles.
We hope you will join us in making a shared vision of computer science for everyone a powerful reality. Our future is bright, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
