Biography

Racquel Fygenson is a PhD student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences. She earned her bachelor’s in arts, technology, and the business of innovation from the University of Southern California and her master’s in computer science from NYU. She is affiliated with the Data Visualization lab.

Her research area is data visualization, in which she is especially interested in understanding how varying visualizations can change understanding and perception of information. She is always looking for opportunities to visualize data and information and prioritize working on projects that educate the public on important news, policies, or discoveries. Fygenson’s faculty advisor is Dr. Enrico Bertini.

She has received the best paper award for "Multiple Forecast Visualizations (MFVs): Trade-offs in Trust and Performance in Multiple COVID-19 Forecast Visualizations" in IEEE VIS 2022. 

Outside of work, she enjoys boxing, surfing, and doing the NYT crossword.
