Biography

Jamie Hipsman is an assistant director of graduate admissions at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received her bachelor’s in journalism from Roger Williams University and her master’s in higher education administration at Northeastern.

Prior to joining Northeastern in 2020, Hipsman worked in residence life and housing as a staff assistant for her work study position, where she got a taste of what it was like to be involved within higher education. She joined Northeastern as both a representative and team lead in operations, specifically for financial aid, in the Enrollment Management Contact Center.

As an admissions coordinator, Hipsman enjoys helping students through the application process and being that person to ease any anxiety they have about applying. Being a first-generation college student herself, she understands the pressures of the college application process. From an admissions perspective, she finds it compelling to read about how dedicated students are in their applications.

Hipsman loves to see students arrive on campus, put their all into their work and grow professionally after they have finished the program. She finds working at the graduate student level incredible, seeing prospective students who have already earned their undergraduate degrees want to continue learning. She sees Northeastern’s lifelong learning mission as important — it really is never too late to get another degree or go back to school.
