Biography
Maddy Bavasso is an academic advisor at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received her master’s in school counseling from Providence College. Prior to joining Northeastern, Bavasso worked as a senior academic advisor at Simmons University. She also has experience working as a school counselor in a high school setting, before transitioning to higher education because she loved working with high school seniors on college and career planning.
Bavasso works with students from the moment they enter Northeastern through graduation, assisting students with long-term degree planning, scheduling, registration, academic policies and procedures, and general support/advocacy throughout their time in college. She supports students in academic, personal and professional aspects of their lives. Bavasso enjoys getting to know students and learning about their interests and goals so she can help tailor their plans to maximize their college experience. When she was a student, her advisor was instrumental in helping her navigate through school and she wants to provide that same guidance to current students. Bavasso believes having an advisor who can support students through challenging times and advocate on their behalf is essential.
She resonates with Khoury College’s mission of striving for inclusivity and promoting computer science for everyone: no matter who you are or where you come from, Khoury has a spot for you to grow.
