Biography

Bruno Scarone is a doctoral student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, advised by Ricardo Baeza-Yates. His doctoral research, which he began in 2021 and expects to complete in 2025, focuses on data science.

As he put the finishes touches on his undergraduate thesis about post-quantum lattice-based cryptography, Scarone became a member of the Computer Science Institute (InCo) and served as a TA for its algorithm analysis and mathematical logic courses. He also worked as a TA for a cryptography fundamentals course housed within the Center for Postgraduate Studies in Computer Science.

After his undergraduate years, Scarone worked in consulting, where his exposure to data science projects inspired him to pursue his doctoral degree. Now, he aims to combine rigorous theory with real-world applications by working at the intersection of basic and applied computational data science research. He is affiliated with the Data Lab @ Northeastern University.
