Biography
Devon Kohler is a doctoral student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, advised by Olga Vitek. His doctoral research, which he began in 2021 and expects to complete in 2025, focuses on computational methods for biological systems.
Kohler is interested in causal machine learning and statistical inference. For the former, he works on methods to detect and quantify differential post-translational modifications in proteomics experiments. For the latter, he applies probabilistic programming to biochemical systems, namely by using the Omega language to model a biological signaling language. He presented his causal machine learning work at US HUPO 2021 and his statistical inference work at ProbProg 2021.
Kohler has worked as a data analyst for the digital marketing company Cybba Inc. and is affiliated with Khoury College’s Statistical Methods for Studies of Biomolecular Systems group. His brother Colin Kohler is also a doctoral student at Khoury College.
