Biography
Geno Fossas is a doctoral student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, advised by William Robertson. Their doctoral work, which they began in 2021 and expect to complete in 2026, focuses on software security at the programming language level.
Fossas’ past projects involved modifying compilers to target new hardware primitives aimed at eliminating timing side channels. They also worked as a research assistant at the University of Central Florida’s APPLeSEED Lab and interned for three summers at Amazon Web Services, where they worked on widgets and web consoles for the Single Sign-On and Service Quotas teams. Now they aim to integrate and enforce security policies at and below the compiler level, and to reduce developer burden in engineering secure software.
Fossas is a member of the Diverge Lab, a classically trained double bassist who played in several orchestras, a passionate illustrator, and an aspiring rock climber.
