My Background
I grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia and then moved to Michigan to do my undergraduate in mathematics and economics. I was then working in an insurance company as an actuary for about 3.5 years. Being an actuary, I often felt stuck with my industry and career prospects as I could only work in the insurance industry. I got exposed to the tech field from people around me, it’s so intriguing as there were so many technology innovations across different industries. I finally decided to take a leap of faith to apply for the Align program after hearing many success stories from the alumni.
Bridge
The bridge classes are the perfect balance of being introductory and thorough. The professors and TAs are also very helpful both in and outside of classes hours. I was very surprised by how many office hours are available throughout the week.
My Future
I had the opportunities to intern at both LinkedIn and Two Sigma during my study at Khoury. These internships exposed me to amazing women leaders in tech industries who are advocating to narrow the gender gap in tech leadership. I also aspire to be a woman leader in the tech industry who could help bridge the gender gap in this industry. I am also really passionate about empowering Indonesian girls from young ages to go into STEM fields and learn how to code.
