Biography
Sanjana Ramprasad is a doctoral student at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, advised by Byron Wallace. Her research focuses on natural language processing, specifically developing network architectures that allow for more controllable and interpretable text generation. Additionally, Ramprasad is also associated with the Northeastern Natural Language Processing (NLP) Research Group.
Prior to joining Northeastern in 2020, Ramprasad spent a significant amount of time developing dialogue systems in the industry. While these systems worked reasonably well for languages like English, she found that the same didn't necessarily apply to low-resource languages, dialects and domains, which can introduce skewed data and bias. Ramprasad is passionate about working on methods that help improve fairness, accessibility and reliability of NLP systems.
