Biography

Mark Bonicillo is a part-time lecturer at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Seattle.

After graduating from Khoury College with his master’s degree in 2017, Bonicillo joined the college’s faculty ranks in 2019 to give back to his community. He teaches courses on databases and the software development life cycle, which he gravitated to out of a desire to help students put their university learning into a practical industry context. Bonicillo particularly enjoys helping Align students transition into the tech industry and pursue careers in software engineering.

Outside of academia, Bonicillo works as a software engineer for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he designs, implements, and maintains software applications for the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. Previously, he worked in software engineering roles at Amazon Web Services and Apptio.

In his free time, Bonicillo enjoys training in martial arts such as Gōjū-ryū karate, boxing, and jiu-jitsu, as well as teaching himself jazz piano.
