Biography
Sarah Maravetz is a director of data analytics at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She received her Master of Professional Studies in information visualization from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she worked for 12 years before joining Northeastern.
In her current role, Maravetz organizes data streams and creates data analytics for Khoury College. She enjoys exploring the story that data can tell, especially if it reveals unexpected patterns you could not previously see. Maravetz’s experience in higher education covered many facets of college administration, but she found her passion in exploring data and designing graphics.
Maravetz finds Khoury College’s mission to introduce more women and under-represented minorities into computer science compelling. As someone who started out in a creative field and discovered an aptitude for data and computers as an adult, she particularly identifies with the goal of the Align program.
Maravetz grew up in Columbia, Maryland, and lived in Baltimore, Maryland for most of her life. She moved to Massachusetts at the end of 2018 with her husband, and they enjoy exploring the Boston area.
