Biography
Catherine Gill is the executive director for the Center for Inclusive Computing at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. She holds a bilingual master of business administration from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa (IESE) in Barcelona, Spain, and a bachelor’s in ancient Greek from Wellesley College. Prior to coming to Northeastern, Gill was Executive Vice President at Root Capital, a social enterprise that provides financing and advisory services to rural businesses in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. In that position, she was responsible for fundraising, impact investing, and communications. At Root Capital, Gill also played a leadership role in developing the Women in Agriculture Initiative, which has invested in more than one hundred gender-inclusive businesses across the globe. Before that, she spent ten years in the community development financial institution (CDFI) industry, at the Nonprofit Finance Fund and at Seedco, financing and consulting to leading social change organizations.
In her role at Northeastern, she enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders — students, faculty, company partners, and philanthropists. She is driven by the deep inter-connectivity with the workplace at Khoury College and the commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community. Gill is passionate about the positive social change that can take place when people work across sectors — universities, private companies, nonprofit organizations, government — and break down the silos and barriers that can stand in the way of deep collaboration and breakthrough innovation.
Additionally, she currently serves on the boards of The Partnership for Gender Equity and Criterion Institute.
Gill grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts.
