Biography
Bochao is a PhD student in the Computer Science program at Northeastern University’s Khoury College of Computer Sciences, advised by Professor Ravi Sundaram. Before coming to Northeastern, Bochao spent his undergraduate studies in Shanghai, China, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in information engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Bochao also earned his master’s degree in control theory and control engineering from the same university he spent his undergraduate studies at.
Bochao’s area of research include algorithms and theory, and the theory of computational sustainability. Shen would like to research algorithms related to energy, such as smart grids.

What are your research interests?
My research interest lies in the theory of computational sustainability.
What’s one problem you’d like to solve with your research/work?
Energy related algorithmic research, i.e. theory problems for smart grids.
What aspect of what you do is most interesting?
It’s new and has the potential to benefit others.
What are your research or career goals, going forward?
My research goal is to come up with new problems (a solution would be better).
Where did you study for your undergraduate degree?
I spent my undergraduate studies at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, where I earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Engineering.
