What are the specifics of your graduate education (thus far)?

Currently, my research interests are in the area of online social networks. As an overview, I work on the measurement and improvement tools towards online social networks’ privacy and security, as well as leveraging OSNs for building better information sharing systems.

What are your research interests?

The focus of my thesis is the "Measurement and Analysis of Privacy and Security in Online Systems." In general, my research interests are big data analysis, large-scale social networks, and network measurement.

What’s one problem you’d like to solve with your research/work?

I’d like to better understand the online ecosystem, including Web's PKI (public key infrastructure), social networks, mobile applications, and I’d like to develop new tools to protect user privacy and enhance Web security.

What aspect of what you do is most interesting?

In one of our research projects, we aim to understand the threats to SSL (secure sockets layer)/TLS (transport layer security) on the modern Web, and develop novel systems to address these challenges. Our results show that, surprisingly, in today’s Web’s PKI (public key infrastructure), there is extensive inaction with respect to certificate revocation.

What are your research or career goals, going forward?

My career goal is to become a data scientist, working in the big data, data mining areas after graduation.
