Biography
Christopher Noyes is the director of IT at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He works in all aspects of the IT environment and leads a team of systems administrators.
Noyes received his first computer in middle school and was drawn in immediately. After convincing his parents to purchase a modem for fax use, he quickly got them hooked on America Online. Once Noyes had access to the internet, his journey truly began. He wrote programs and scripts in the 1990s and ran a small online interest group around this time until the 2000s. He took more formal programming classes in high school and knew computer science was his passion.
While at Northeastern, Noyes took the time to join the IT crew group at Khoury College and soon realized that he wanted to pursue systems administration as a career. After receiving a bachelor’s in computer science from Northeastern, he took a job with his co-op employer, the Systems Group at Khoury College. Noyes started as the Windows administrator, and through training, experience, and promotions, he moved to his current position as the associate director of IT – infrastructure and architecture. In this role, he is responsible for Khoury College’s research and production infrastructure. Noyes is the technical lead for the infrastructure administrators on staff, while actively developing projects to improve the reliability and security of the services offered. He most enjoys the opportunity to work on new and cutting-edge technologies, as well as the ability to stay active in the conference circuit, where he can acquire new knowledge and network with industry professionals. Passionate about computer security, Noyes recently earned his master’s in information assurance from Northeastern to further his education and expand his experience.
Noyes’ childhood years were spent in Stoughton, Massachusetts. You might have found him building tree forts in the woods, playing on old video game systems with friends, or stage-managing productions at the local theater.
