Biography
Smajl Cengic is a senior co-op coordinator at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He received his master’s in management from Cambridge College, as well as a graduate certificate in workforce development from Northeastern.
Cengic spent his first five years in the U.S. helping refugees and immigrants find their first jobs in the country. He then spent eleven years advising and helping urban young adults continue their college education, while pursuing his higher education degrees. There are two reasons why Cengic chose his career: his love for guiding young adults through the process of choosing their career paths and his love for working with the population that Khoury College serves.
In his role at Northeastern, Cengic teaches students the skills they need to succeed in their professional lives, as well as develops relationships with employers and students. He also enjoys teaching the co-op seminar. Cengic is most compelled by creating opportunities for students to improve their careers and lives.
